Appointment of a new Director of Sponsored Programs
The Office of the Provost announces, today, that Dr. Sajid Hussain, Associate Professor of Computer Science, will serve as the Interim Director of Sponsored Programs. Dr. Hussain is well qualified to serve in this leadership role for Sponsored Research.
Dr. Hussain joined Fisk University in 2009 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Prior to coming to Fisk University, he worked as an Associate Professor at the Jodrey School of Computer Science, at Acadia University, in Canada 2005-2009. Over the years he has published more than 70 refereed journal, conference, and workshop papers. His research is financially supported by several grants and contracts such a: $2.25 million NSF implementation award to promote quantitative and computing initiatives in STEM programs; $281,056 NSF/HBCU/TIP infusing machine learning in Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Bias Analysis; $394,954 NSF/ HBCU/ Tip to transform CS curriculum for increasing undergraduate majors; and $1,018,114 from NIH. Dr. Hussain holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Canada. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Hussain to his elevation to this important role.
