Why did you choose Fisk University?
The college experience is determined by several factors based on one's independent experience, and one crucial factor is your upbringing. I grew up in South Memphis, Tennessee. This area lacks opportunities for young African Americans, but coming to Fisk University has allowed me to secure opportunities that I could only dream of. I have been able to make great connections and hold numerous leadership roles, such as Mr. Fisk. Another reason I chose Fisk was because of the family aspect. Due to Fisk being such a small institution, it was easy to make friends, friends I can truly call family. The Education here at Fisk is second to none, which is shown in our student's performance and participation. The environment around the campus inspires you to be successful and pushes you to your most tremendous potential. Fisk is ranked in the top 10 amongst all HBCUs, and that speaks to how close-knit and committed to excellence we are here at Fisk. I have been challenged to become a better student and all-around person; therefore, I am genuinely proud to call myself a Fiskite.

Why did you choose Fisk University?
I chose Fisk because I knew that I always wanted to go to an HBCU and when I heard about Fisk I could tell that it was a school for me. I could see from the moment I walked on campus that not only do they emphasize family, but they also care about their students succeeding and helping the community. Lastly, I’d like to add that they encourage students to advocate for themselves and be leaders which are very important.
